Underground Utilities Mapping & Topographical Surveys

Plowman Craven’s in-house utilities division offers a wide range of utility mapping solutions. Our specialist utility surveyors are able to trace, identify and map all underground utilities and service routes, including gas, water, telecommunications, electricity and drainage.

We go beyond the traditional 2D mapping of services and combine cutting edge utility tracing techniques with our market leading topographic surveying capabilities to provide comprehensive 3D understanding of infrastructure above and below the ground.

Plowman Craven has a wealth of experience in the delivery of industry compliant information in strict accordance with the suite of current Building Information Modelling (BIM) standards, including PAS1192. To this effect, we offer an Underground Service (UGS) Revit deliverable which allows the survey to be read in the 3D environment alongside associated 3D topography and built asset surveys. Connectivity between UGS and these datasets is vital to help inform a proposed design.

Our innovative technology and workflows are aligned with all industry surveying standards, including The Survey Association (TSA) and PAS 128, including full TSA level 6 site wide Ground Penetrating Radar. Our fleet of the latest Radio Frequency Location (RFL) equipment and Leica laser scanners also ensure data capture is both rapid and accurate.

Topographical Surveys

We produce topographical surveys for greenfield, brownfield and development sites and have been commissioned on many of the UK’s major urban regeneration schemes.

Data is captured in either 2D or 3D using the latest Total Station, GPS and laser scanning technology applying innovative terrestrial, mobile and aerial techniques.
