I head up Plowman Craven’s environmental planning team, working with stakeholders across the business and a wide variety of clients.
- What does a typical day look like?
It's pretty varied with a mixture of project delivery, client meetings and business development. I also try to keep my hand in with some of the site work too, when time permits!
- What do you like most about your job?
I take great satisfaction from assisting clients in achieving their development goals in a sustainable manner with real regard to the environment and conservation.
- Favourite project?
HS2 London to Birmingham route appraisal stages. It was one of the biggest projects in the UK at the time and it still is.
- What’s your proudest achievement?
I can’t choose one in particular but witnessing the construction and completion of a number of developments that I have worked on has been satisfying. Passing some of them on my commute is also a regular reminder which makes me proud.

With a degree in Biology and a Masters in Environmental Control, I have always had a passion for nature, conservation and the environment. My role allows me to get involved in these fields whilst supporting sustainable development.
- What are the most important attributes for your role?
An ability to work in a diverse team of designers, recognising each and every one of their opinions but still being able to give yours.
- Best thing about working for Plowman Craven?
Diversity. We have many different nationalities working here which makes for a great working environment.
- What advice would you give to somebody wanting to do the same job?
You definitely need a passion for the environment, integrity and the ability to achieve a good work-life balance.
- What are your passions outside work?
Running, cycling and fly fishing.
- Favourite quote or saying?
Don’t sweat the small stuff!
