Business Support Administrator
Not an IT Role | Hybrid | Harpenden | Immediate Start
About Plowman Craven
Plowman Craven is a recognised leader in Geospatial Technologies, combining innovation with precision to support clients across the entire asset lifecycle. Trusted by some of the world’s largest developers, property managers, contractors and engineering firms, we deliver highly accurate data and insights that drive smarter decision-making and improve project efficiency. Our mission is to push the boundaries of what’s possible and help shape the future of the built environment.
The Role
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Business Support Administrator to join our team in Harpenden. This is a pivotal business support role that sits at the heart of our operations, helping teams work efficiently, accurately and on time.
While the role involves working closely with business systems (such as CRM and finance platforms), this is not an IT role. You will not be expected to configure software or provide technical IT support. Instead, you will act as a knowledgeable first point of contact for users, supporting day-to-day administration, data accuracy, reporting and process coordination, and liaising with external system providers where needed.
You will also play a key role in supporting project administration and financial processes, helping project teams meet deadlines and maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Business Systems & Process Support
- Act as the first point of contact for internal system queries, providing guidance and escalating issues to external software providers where required
- Log, track and follow up support cases, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication
- Carry out day-to-day system administration such as maintaining records, updating data and managing user access
- Support the effective use of systems including Sugar CRM and Access Financial Operations & Resource Scheduler
- Produce standard reports and assist with data extraction for business and project needs
- Create and maintain simple user guides and process notes
- Deliver informal system training to colleagues (one-to-one or small group)
Project & Business Administration
- Coordinate and monitor project financial month-end processes
- Provide administrative support across the project lifecycle, including invoicing, purchase orders, accommodation bookings and project closure
- Support operational teams with general administration as required
- Provide cover and assistance across the wider Business Support function during peak periods or absences
About You
- Proven experience in an administrative, coordination or business support role
- Confident using business systems and databases, with strong attention to data accuracy
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Clear, confident communicator who enjoys supporting colleagues
- Strong Excel skills (including basic formulas) and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Willing to learn new systems and help others use them effectively
- Experience with CRM, finance or resource scheduling systems is beneficial
- Knowledge of Access Group products or similar business software is an advantage
How We Work
At Plowman Craven, we value people who:
- Collaborate openly and support others to deliver great results
- Take initiative and solve problems before they escalate
- Look for better ways of working and welcome feedback
- Stay organised, responsive and focused on outcomes
- Take accountability for accuracy and delivery
- Balance efficiency with empathy
If you’re a detail-driven administrator who enjoys being at the centre of a busy, professional team and wants a systems-facing admin role that is business-focused rather than IT-focused, we’d love to hear from you.
