ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Surveyor to join our Sydney-based team, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across logistics facilities, industrial sites, and large-scale property development. This role offers a blend of field and technical responsibilities, including data collection, setting out, digital workflows, and supporting project scoping and estimation. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-driven, and confident liaising with clients and contractors on site, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong technical outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Site & Field Operations

  • Conduct engineering, construction, and as-built surveys across industrial, logistics, and development sites.
  • Perform setting out (manual and HP SitePrint), monitoring, verification, and control establishment.
  • Operate total stations (TS16/TS60), laser scanning systems (RTC360/P40), digital levels, and related instruments.
  • Ensure data is captured safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and QA processes.
  • Liaise directly with site managers, contractors, and stakeholders to interpret requirements and resolve technical queries.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, logs, and documentation.

Technical & Office Duties

  • Process survey data, developing site models and producing high-quality deliverables including plans, reports, and 3D outputs.
  • Take ownership of data from capture through to registration, processing, and client delivery.
  • Support project estimation by reviewing briefs, defining scope, identifying risks, and contributing to pricing models.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, methodologies, and technical documentation for new bids.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality processes, safety practices, Australian standards, and industry best practice.
  • Contribute to the development and adoption of new technologies and workflows within the Sydney team.
  • Coordinate with global Plowman Craven teams and support knowledge-sharing across regions.
  • Assist with training and developing survey staff and subcontractors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Tertiary qualification in Surveying, Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Engineering Surveyor (construction, logistics, infrastructure or property development preferred).
  • Proficient with modern survey instrumentation (Leica or Trimble) and software such as AutoCAD, Leica, Trimble or 12d.
  • Strong understanding of survey control, construction methodology, and site coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Experience in scoping and estimating survey works is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Valid Australian driving licence and ability to travel across Sydney metro and regional sites.
