ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Processing Technician to join our technical delivery team, supporting the high-accuracy processing of geospatial and survey data for a wide range of engineering, infrastructure, and environmental projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in handling and processing large datasets derived from modern survey technologies such as LiDAR, UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems), and NavVis indoor mobile mapping. They will be proficient in data processing and visualisation software including, but not limited to, Agisoft Metashape, N4CE, Leica Cyclone, NavVis IVION, and AutoCAD.

This role involves transforming raw geospatial data into high-quality deliverables such as point clouds and others, ensuring that all outputs meet strict quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process and manage data collected from various sources including UAS (drones), LiDAR scanners, GNSS, and NavVis M6 or VLX systems.
  • Register, align, classify, and clean point cloud datasets using platforms such as Leica Cyclone, NavVis IVION, etc.
  • Generate high-accuracy geospatial deliverables, including:
  • Orthophotos, DTMs, DSMs, 3D mesh models, and topographic maps.
  • Use Agisoft Metashape or Pix4D for photogrammetric processing of aerial imagery.
  • Import, convert, and analyse data for cross-functional teams, and prepare outputs in various formats to meet project specifications.
  • Produce client-ready reports, graphs, and data summaries using Microsoft Excel, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with surveyors and field technicians to validate data, identify anomalies, and troubleshoot errors during the processing phase.
  • Maintain structured data storage and version control in line with company standards and project requirements.
  • Ensure all data processing workflows are completed in accordance with schedule, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Suggest and implement improvements in processing workflows, automation, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Stay current with developments in survey technologies, geospatial software, and industry best practices.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in processing data from:
    • Terrestrial LiDAR systems
    • UAS photogrammetry
    • NavVis indoor mapping systems (M6, VLX)
    • GNSS and Total Station instruments
  • Proficiency with a range of data processing software:
  • Agisoft Metashape or Pix4D (for photogrammetry)
  • Leica Cyclone (for point cloud registration and cleaning)
  • NavVis IVION (for indoor mapping and visualisation)
  • AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (charts, advanced formulas, data manipulation)
  • Solid understanding of coordinate systems, georeferencing, and survey data formats (e.g., LAS, E57, RCP, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working on infrastructure, construction, inspection, smart monitoring, or safety-critical projects
  • Familiarity with survey fieldwork practices and troubleshooting field-to-office data handover
  • Experience in a multinational or multi-disciplinary engineering or geospatial consultancy environment
  • Knowledge of QA/QC processes and experience with quality documentation protocols
