Senior Environmental Consultant

Introduction

We are currently recruiting for two Environmental Consultants to join our busy and growing environmental division, PC Enviro. This Senior Consultant role will be based in our Harpenden office. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic consultant who is keen to play a central role in the development of our business. As Senior Environmental Consultant, you will work closely with the Environmental Director to develop and deliver the strategy of the business.

Role Specification

  • Leading the delivery of technical work, including: 

    • Undertaking, coordination and managing environmental assessments to support planning and support with report writing including input in the drafting of Environmental Statements and planning documents
    • Management of Phase 1 desk-based environmental surveys for large portfolio projects 
    • Support with environmental monitoring (noise, vibration and air quality) and construction environmental management
  • Playing a key role in business development, including client account management, working with other parts of the business to identify cross-selling opportunities, drafting proposals and working with the Directors to feed into the BD strategy
  • Technical and commercial management of subcontractors and supervision of work 
  • Mentoring more junior members of staff
  • Client and project team liaison
  • Ensuring that health and safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project 

Person Specification

Essential

  • Appropriate degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering or a related environmental discipline (e.g. acoustics or air quality)
  • 3 to 7 years’ experience working as an environmental consultant or similar
  • Good knowledge of environmental guidelines, policies, plans and legislative requirements
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • Strong consultation and communication skills, ideally with experience of public consultation
  • Strong team worker – able to listen to requirements and work well with others
  • Experience with mentoring/ managing junior members of staff
  • Experience at managing sub-consultants and/or a range of environmental disciplines
  • Numerically competent and strong report writing/review skills
  • Familiar with developing and implementing H&S risk assessment
  • Attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
  • Ability to use IT packages (including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Project) to prepare figures and project programmes

Desirable

  • Knowledge of a particular environmental specialism would be advantageous but not essential.
