BIM Coordinator

This role is based in Harpenden.

Introduction

This is an opportunity to join the industry leading BIM team at Plowman Craven. We continue to develop new and innovative BIM services for our clients and in doing so, we define the standard of BIM in the survey industry. We work with tier 1 clients, on the most prestigious projects and as a result we’re looking for the very best BIM coordinators to join our growing team. We’re looking for team playing, technically astute individuals that can contribute to our continued success in the coming years.

Quality, innovation, collaboration form the foundation of our BIM services. Working within our BIM Centre of Excellence, this role will enable Plowman Craven to continue to drive the quality within our models and information deliverables.

Primary Purpose

To join the talented and highly skilled BIM team and play an active part in the successful delivery of BIM projects ensuring quality and data compliance. 

To provide detailed knowledge of existing and future BIM related technology, and to drive its use through the business for maximum commercial benefit

Role Specification

  • To be fully committed to delivering high quality models in accordance with the company standard and QA protocols. 
  • To liaise with the wider project team, including Project Managers and Surveyors ensuring that the most appropriate modelling workflow, techniques, and software are utilised.
  • To validate and verify graphical and non-graphical model data ensuring consistency across all projects.
  • To work collaboratively and proactively with all model authors, both internally and within the supply chain ensuring that they understand and execute every project in the most effective way and encouraging best practice. 
  • To ensure that all BIM projects deliver a great service by guaranteeing they beat client expectations and meet Company standards – in aspects such as quality, timeliness and health & safety
  • To have a passion to learn and develop greater breadth of understanding across the world of BIM.
  • To support the BIM Manager in further developing the quality and data review procedure. 
  • To support the project team in attending client meetings with the ability to steer and contribute to technical discussions, navigating models and reviewing data. 
  • To undertake all other reasonable tasks as requested

Person Specification

Essential

  • Understanding of what BIM is and the importance of data. 
  • Knowledge in BIM standards
  • Will have a minimum 2 years’ experience in any of the following;

    • Revit 
    • Navisworks
    • Solibri Model Checker
  • Experience in the navigation of data within a 3D environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines. 
  • Loyal, Self-motivated and pro-active

Desirable

  • Architectural-related degree or qualification
  • Experience working with the construction industry with particular understanding of data management and interrogation.
  • Ability to be client facing and help steer technical discussions relating specifically to data. 
  • Knowledge in all 3 of the listed software. Architectural-related degree or qualification

  • Experience of using other BIM softwares / ArchiCAD / Tekla / AECOSim
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Clash Detection experience
  • Rule Set making experience
  • Dynamo experience
  • Involvement in guiding and training others in data validation and verification techniques
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across the Project Team - clients, colleagues and suppliers
  • A passion to learn and develop further understanding of the BIM process
  • Attention to detail and desire to deliver high quality outputs
