Semeli Kyriacou, Student Placement

During the summer of 2016, Plowman Craven gave me the opportunity to gain experience through an Erasmus Plus placement in association with the Cyprus Institute. My placement was in the Scan to (H)Bim and Laser Scanning divisions. As an architect working towards the development of my PHD in Science and Archaeology in Cultural Heritage at CYI, this placement was invaluable working experience. During my time at the company I undertook training in basic surveying techniques and laser scanning, including the processing of point cloud data, and ‘on the job’ training and experience in modelling from point cloud data in Revit. My main focus was modelling architectural detail from scan data - to a high Level of Detail and in buildings. My two months spent at Plowman Craven were highly constructive, working in a very professional environment. It’s a multi-disciplinary consultancy based in modern facilities in Harpenden, and continuously pushes the boundaries of surveying, laser scanning and BIM/3D technologies. Employees benefit from effective HR policies which create a friendly, stable and productive environment in which to train, work and grow within the company.

Marylise Vassell, Project Manager

For someone who is completely new to the industry, it could have been very daunting joining a company like Plowman Craven! However, from the moment I joined I was made to feel welcome and the clear and structured training programme, along with the experienced team that I work with, has allowed me to integrate well and to grow professionally. One of the things I love the most is that no two days or projects are ever the same, which always makes things interesting. It’s also refreshing to see that diversity and equality is encouraged throughout the company.

Simon Lacorte, Managing Surveyor

I joined the Company in 1999 as a graduate and now hold the position of Operations Manager within Plowman Craven’s biggest business group, BIM, where part of my role is to recruit new graduates! The Company has retained the same recruitment ethos as when I joined – to support career progression within the organisation, and offer opportunities for those seeking to embark upon a career in measurement surveying. As a recruiting manager, I am looking for proactive individuals with great interpersonal skills who are looking to join a progressive company.

Bhavesh Naran, Lead Project Manager

I joined Plowman Craven in December 2007 from a smaller company to broaden my existing surveying skill set and work on a variety of different projects. I initially joined as a Junior Surveyor where I worked on various projects for the MBS (now BIM), Rail and Utilities and Area Referencing Teams. When promoted to a Surveyor, I was fortunate enough to travel to Abu Dhabi for work which was definitely one of my highlights soaking up some winter sunshine whilst working! My current role is that of Project Manager within the Area Referencing Team, where I am responsible for the execution of successful projects. This role has led me to combine the Technical skills learnt as a Surveyor with the Project Management skills such as budgeting, resourcing and combine them into a client facing role. I like the fact Plowman Craven recognises employees for the work we do. Through recognition, I’ve been selected to go on a number of courses to further my career, which shows it is a company willing to invest in staff.

I came to Plowman craven as a young whippersnapper from school and spent my first 2 years rotating between teams within the business, learning a broad set of skills across each of the disciplines of surveying.  I have been involved in Plowman Craven’s superb training program, which involved on the job training from more experienced surveyors, ‘An introduction to surveying’  structured survey course undertaken with the TSA along with continued development both internally and externally to broaden my survey and management skills. After over 10 years at the company I am now a Senior Surveyor within the Area Referencing team and my time is usually split between on-site surveys, office based quality control and aftersales services.  I am also involved in the company’s Health and Safety committee which strives to ensure safe working practices for myself and my colleagues.

Danas Jurgelevicius, Surveyor

I joined Plowman Craven in February 2012 as a Survey Assistant within the Engineering team (now PC Monitoring) and found the team to be supportive, especially senior staff. I underwent an internal company training programme which gave me the confidence to carry out surveys and developed my survey skills and as a result I was promoted to a Junior Surveyor in January 2014. No day is the same and I’ve learnt something new from each project I’ve been involved in. I really do believe Plowman Craven is the leading measurement surveying company, focusing on quality, innovation and development of the staff which makes it a great place to work.
