- So, what exactly do you do then?
-
I work for Plowman Craven’s PC Monitoring division, helping provide clients with highly-accurate monitoring and measurement of buildings or infrastructure that could be affected by construction activity.
- What does a typical day look like?
-
Typically, it is a mixture of office and site work. So that involves collating and delivering our monitoring reports, as well as scheduling staff according to the project needs. I will also attend site for the installation and maintenance of automated, geotechnical and environmental equipment.
- What do you like most about your job?
-
Starting a project, installing the equipment and seeing the project develop. I also enjoy verifying and cross-referencing monitoring movements with site works, before finally discussing the data with clients that appreciate the importance of monitoring data.
- What’s your proudest achievement?
-
Probably the fact that having arrived in London from another country I have adapted and been able to increase my experience and knowledge in a different environment. I also hope that I have made a contribution to PC Monitoring being able to continue to push boundaries.
- Why did you choose this field of work?
-
I am a Geological engineer by trade so I am very passionate about soil and structural movements. Monitoring is a very good fit!
- What are the most important attributes for your role?
-
Understanding monitoring and which types of activity would suit a particular project obviously help… but more generally it’s about attention to detail, good analytical skills and taking pride in delivering a report to a high standard that can stand up to scrutiny from the client.
- What’s been your favourite project?
-
Fielden House was great. It’s in a very sensitive location next to the Shard and involved automated, manual and geotechnical monitoring, meaning that we were constantly cross-referencing data from different sources and contrasting it with site works development.

- What's so great about working for Plowman Craven?
-
I enjoy the feeling of not being just another employee – but actually being valued. The staff are all very approachable, we all get on well in the PC Monitoring team and it's a really relaxed working environment.
- What are you like to work with?
-
I don’t really know… but I’d like to think am easy to approach, a team player and capable of listening to any concerns, observations or even criticisms.
- What are your passions outside work?
-
Swimming, being outdoors, reading.
- Do you have a favourite quote or saying?
-
It is what it is!

I enjoy the feeling of not being just another employee – but actually being valued. The staff are all very approachable, we all get on well and it's a really relaxed working environment.
