Global Positioning System Consultancy
Global Positioning System or GPS enables the positioning of any point in a global framework through observations to a network of orbiting satellites. Originally designed for military use by the U.S., the information from these satellites was eventually made publicly available. At first the prime purpose was in navigation, but the surveying community soon realised that this technology could also be used for purposes of measurement.
A Proven Technology for over 20 years
Plowman Craven have been using GPS technology since 1984 and have been steadily increasing its use and its range of applications.
Control Surveys
Control surveys forms the main element of GPS work at
Plowman Craven, either for map revision or for large-scale topographic surveys.
GPS was used to survey the whole of the Greenwich Peninsular around the Millennium Dome, producing a highly detailed and extensive 3D survey for Arup.
