Laser Scanning
Laser scanning creates an organised, highly accurate, digital representation of a subject quickly and efficiently. This raw data is processed and is used in a huge number of geomatic applications such as architectural and industrial design, measured building surveying, civil engineering, heritage preservation, crime scene analysis, the film industry, virtual reality scene acquisition, 3D modelling, reverse engineering, inspection, CAD comparison, and rapid prototyping.
The technology brings many benefits to our clients, including:
- Rapid site data collection - This is particularly valuable where site access is limited. It allows critical decisions to be made in the more comfortable surroundings of the office using a 'virtual' site.
- Non-contact measurement - Reduces risk and safety constraints by allowing remote surveys of hazardous sites.
- Collaboration and virtual site visits using TruView™ - click here for our TruView service
- Complete digital data set of the site in one visit. Data can be processed on an 'as-needed' basis to fit with the priorities of the project with a 'pay-as-you-go' approach to buying survey products from the same dataset at a later stage.
- Reduced cost, by virtually eliminating the need for return visits to site if client requirements change.
- Permanent 'point-in-time' archive for heritage recording and reinstatement.
