: Ginger Smallwood Memorial Road Race – Kent |
After getting caught with the finish line in sight
at Brentwood, Freddie Johansson finally took the win he deserved in the
Ginger Smallwood road race in Cheddington (Buckinghamshire).
In sweltering conditions it was Malcolm Elliott who
was active in a breakaway for most of the race. As the race came back
together, Freddie and Malcolm both made the decisive break that looked
like it would go all the way to the finish.
The young Swede made his move with 500 metres to
go and this time held on to the finish for his first win for his new team.
“Joining
PCA has taught me how to love riding my bike again, I’ve had a tough
time over the last year Or so, but Simon and all the team have really
inspired me to do well again”
Freddie said afterwards.
