: National Elite Circuit Series - Crawley |
A tight 1 kilometre circuit that included
a climb with added speed bumps was always going to be hard to control
for the boys.
The team managed to put 6 riders in the front group and it was Malcolm,
Tony and Freddie that were active at the head of affairs.
The race however did not go to plan, with the
tightness of the circuit making it difficult to move up, crashes,
it was a solo attack
by Malcolm with 5 laps to go that looked like it finally might work.
With the boys trying to control the bunch Malcolm was still holding
them off at the bell, but after a concerted chase by lone ranger
Rob Hayles he was swamped as he hit the finishing straight. Tony
fought Hayles all the way
to the line, but couldn’t quite get passed the former World
Madison champion for the win.
Afterwards Tony was philosophical about
the race and both he and Malcolm shared their vast experience in
this type racing
with the youngsters in the team, “We have to make sure the
top spot on the podium is a PCA rider in the next round”.
said Tony.
