Laser Scanning
As the first geomatics organisation in Europe to acquire a 3D laser scanner, Plowman Craven has now been supporting Police investigations and inquiries for over a decade.
3D laser scanners have the capability to capture, at speed, vast amounts of data at crime scenes, incidents and disaster scenes. From large-scale urban or rural locations down to intimate rooms, furnishings, vehicles and weapons, our team of forensically-trained experts are able to mobilise at short notice to any location in order to scan any scene and capture relevant information in 3D.
Benefits:
- The laser scanner operates remotely so there is no hindrance to investigating teams or contamination of forensic evidence;
- The latest laser technology captures data rapidly thus allowing the scene to be 'handed-back' for normal service to resume;
- A laser scanner records the entire scene, so a return visit to site is never required;
- As captured data is three-dimensional, it can be used to analyse sight-lines, bullet trajectories and more;
- Laser scan data can be easily transformed into a variety of formats from precise layout drawings through to complex computer-generated 3D models and animations;
- Scenes of crime can be accurately reconstructed from laser scan data.
Our high-technology apparatus is constantly upgraded and the team is available on a 24/7 callout basis.
