The accurate recording of heritage sites is an aspect of measured survey work that Plowman Craven has undertaken since the time of our very first commissioned projects almost half a century ago. Then, the spatial data collection of historic sites and buildings was geared towards the production of ink fair drawings on stable plastic film for 2D presentation to scale, drawings that today may now themselves be considered works of art.
And today, on the back of massive advancements in data collection instrumentation, computer technology and graphics skills, our market in the field of site recording has expanded both geographically and materially. From Rameses II in Cairo and the ancient city of Merv in Turkmenistan to the 19 century house at Lake Innes in Australia, we have surveyed heritage sites across the globe and across the centuries.
Plowman Craven has long established relationships with clients such as the British Museum and Science Museum. We have assisted them with their data management requirements and also carried out heritage recording both on the buildings and their artefacts.
